Charles Isabirye Gets Heavy Sentence
Charles Isabirye, convicted of four counts of rape against two victims, was slammed with a total 17-year jail sentence yesterday (Wednesday 22 October). The sentencing at Leicester Crown Court followed his recent conviction after a gripping trial last month.
Judge Condemns ‘Dominating Predator’
Judge Evans blasted Isabirye for his relentless control over the victims, saying he “sought to dominate all aspects of their lives.” Despite Isabirye’s denials and claims that the women colluded to fabricate stories, the jury saw through his lies. He was also found guilty of breaching a restraining order and three counts of witness intimidation.
Officer Praised for Professionalism Amid Claims
The complex investigation saw dedicated DC Sarah Le Boutillier earn praise for her professionalism. “She conducted herself with professionalism,” said the judge, rejecting Isabirye’s unfounded attacks on her integrity.
“You continue to blame one victim, saying ‘If it was not for her, you would not be in prison.’ During the trial, you accused the prosecution of unfairness rather than face the witnesses’ evidence. You saw conspiracies everywhere and painted yourself as the victim.
I have no doubt you present a serious risk to women.”
Restrictions to Protect Victims
The 48-year-old, formerly of Ratcliffe Road, Loughborough, has been slapped with a restraining order barring contact with the victims, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to keep the public safe. Justice has been served for his terrified victims.
