Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman in her 20s was found dead at an address in Carlton, Nottinghamshire. Officers have set up multiple cordons across the area as the hunt for answers intensifies.
Man, 40, Arrested at Scene
Emergency services rushed to a home on Westdale Lane West at 10.07pm last night amid concerns for a person’s safety. Despite their efforts, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Multiple Police Cordons Across Nottinghamshire
Police have sealed off three areas: Westdale Lane East, Westdale Lane West, and Mapperley and Oxclose Lane in Bestwood. Forensic teams are combing the scene, piecing together evidence to understand what happened.
Nottinghamshire Police have reassured the public there is no wider risk, calling the tragic event an “isolated incident.”

“Our deepest condolences are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers,” said Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, leading the probe. “We are working at pace and urge anyone in the area before, during, or after the incident, or anyone with CCTV, dash-cam, or mobile footage, to get in touch. Residents will notice increased patrols – but we believe there’s no ongoing threat to the public.”
