A tense showdown unfolded at Paris’s Montparnasse train station on Friday afternoon when police shot a knife-wielding man from Wallis & Futuna. The 44-year-old suspect was caught as he stepped off a TGV train from Rennes. Officers from the Île-de-France transport network brigade (BRF) intervened around 2:30pm after the man showed aggressive behaviour.

The suspect, known to authorities for domestic violence, was shot in the legs by officers to stop him. Moments later, he stabbed himself in the throat. The dramatic incident ended quickly but left a chilling motive behind it.
