A 19-year-old is due in court this Friday after a daring stolen car pursuit in Birmingham ended with the passenger hurling a fire extinguisher at police.
Stolen Car Spurs High-Speed Police Chase
West Midlands Police were called on 29 October to reports of a stolen vehicle in the Hodge Hill area of Birmingham.
The following day, officers from the Road Crime Team spotted the stolen car and began to follow it. The driver initially refused to stop, sparking a chase.
Fire Extinguisher Used as a Dangerous Weapon
During the pursuit, the passenger tried to blind officers by releasing a fire extinguisher’s contents in their path. The same individual then threw the metal fire extinguisher canister at a police car, causing damage.
Despite the attacks, the Road Crime Team kept the car under control until it was finally stopped on the A38 Northbound slip road near the M6.
