TV presenters Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr, both cast as devious Traitors on The Celebrity Traitors, have stunned fans by revealing they are distantly related. The pair, along with singer Cat Burns, were chosen by host Claudia Winkleman at the start of the series to don iconic green cloaks and decide which Faithful contestants to “murder” at the castle’s turret.
Old Pals with a Surprise Family Tie
Though longtime showbiz pals, Jonathan and Alan recently shared their surprising family connection during a 2022 chat on Alan’s Life’s A Beach podcast. Alan recalled:
“I was so excited because we come from the same area [Margate in Kent], we are distantly related. I remember going over to you saying, ‘Jonathan, Jonathan, your mum says we’re related,’ and you went, ‘for f*** sake.’”
Jonathan joked back, “I tried to stop her talking to people because she’d always find some famous connection.”
Famous Family Secrets and Fun Banter
Jonathan also referenced Alan’s appearance on Who Do You Think You Are?:
“I saw your episode and you’ve got a deserter in your family. I don’t know if I want to be tarnished by that. We are related – I forgot that.”
Keeping the chat cheeky, Jonathan quipped, “Well, neither of us have got looks, let’s be honest. But you scrub up very well.” Alan shot back, “Yes, I’ve seen you looking very handsome.”
