Following a detailed investigation into the tragic death of seven-month-old Elle Doherty in Coventry, detectives have confirmed that no criminal offences were committed.
Emergency services were called to a property on Shorncliffe Road shortly after 3 PM on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found Elle Doherty with severe head injuries inflicted by the family’s pet dog, a Belgian Malinois.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene, Elle was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries a short time later. Our thoughts are with her family during this devastating time.
The pet dog was removed from the home on Sunday and humanely destroyed.
The investigation has now concluded, and a file is being prepared for the Coroner. The Doherty family has been informed of these developments and has requested privacy as they grieve their loss.
