First Picture Released of Terry McMillan, 58, Stabbed to Death Alongside Son Brendan in Bermondsey

Overview

This is the first picture of Terry McMillan, 58, a charitable property developer, who was tragically stabbed to death alongside his son Brendan McMillan, 27, in a targeted attack at their Bermondsey office.

The pair were attacked inside the offices of The Trademark Group, their property development and investment company, on Long Lane, near London Bridge station. Terry died at the scene while Brendan was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

CCTV Shows Suspect Fleeing Scene

CCTV footage captured the suspect sprinting from the building moments after the stabbing. A resident, who shared the footage, described it as a “targeted attack”:

“I caught the same man on camera walking calmly down the street a few minutes before the stabbings. He then runs from the archway of the building in a mad hurry to get away. The police arrived just four minutes later.”

Police confirmed the suspect fled to a nearby hotel, where he was arrested.

Victims Remembered

Rosemary George, 59, a colleague at the Bermondsey office, described Terry as a “good boss and a fair man” and Brendan as a “fit and sports-mad young man”:

“Terry was someone you could always go to if you needed anything. Brendan did a PE degree at university, went to America to play rugby, and was always full of life.

Brendan’s rugby club, Old Colfeians RFC, shared an emotional tribute on social media:

“Brendan lit up every room he walked into, forever smiling, cracking jokes and full of life. His absence will be deeply felt for a long time to come. We are also mourning the loss of his beloved father, Terry, a long-time supporter and sponsor of the club.”

Investigation Continues

A third man in his 30s remains in hospital recovering from his injuries, while a 31-year-old suspect under police guard is also being treated in hospital.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for the area, said:

“At this point, we do not believe it to be terrorism-related and there is no further risk to the public. There will be a heavy police presence in the area throughout today and I would encourage anyone with information to come forward.”

Terry McMillan, who left school at 16 with few qualifications, rose to success in the property industry and was widely known for giving back to the community. Through The McMillan Family Trust, he regularly donated to local sports clubs and supported members of the British Olympic Team. In 2014, he was awarded the title ‘Freeman of the City’.

Witness Appeal

Police are urging anyone with information about the attack to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
