A murder investigation is underway after a 62-year-old man died days following a brutal attack in Southwark.

Horrific Assault in Maddock Way

Police were called at 1:15pm on Thursday, 20 November after reports of a fight in Maddock Way, Southwark. Officers found Michael Burrows with a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital but tragically passed away two days later on Saturday, 22 November.

Family Heartbroken Over Loss of ‘Rock’

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear father, our hearts are forever broken. He was our rock,” said the Burrows family. “Our dad was a funny, charismatic and loyal gentleman who had a heart of gold. He lit up every room and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We love you dad, may the angels watch over you.”

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector David Whellams said:

“This was a senseless and shocking act of violence that has left a much-loved father dead. We understand the concern this will cause in the community. Our dedicated homicide team is working hard to uncover what happened.”

“If you saw anything or have any information, please come forward. Your help is crucial.”

No arrests have been made so far.
