On the 20th of June, fire crews were called to Newport Road in Northwood after a fire broke out in a residential property’s kitchen.
Although the situation was quickly brought under control, one person was transported to the hospital under blue lights. The injured person was stretchered out of the back of the property.
The next day, fire investigation dogs from the mainland were brought in, but because the situation was not as serious as first thought, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service scaled back the investigation.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that the woman, who was in her 80s, died on Sunday at St Mary’s Hospital (26th June).
Police are collaborating with the fire department and the Coroner to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
