Merseyside Police are urgently seeking information from the public after a fatal road collision earlier today. At approximately 7.55amT a Kia Sportage car collided with a male motorcyclist on Stadium Road, at the junction with Commercial Road.
Tragically, the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries despite receiving immediate medical attention at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and are currently receiving support from specially trained officers.
The driver of the Kia Sportage, a 52-year-old man, stopped at the scene and has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He is currently in police custody as the investigation unfolds.
Inspector Tim Pottle from Roads Policing expressed condolences, stating, “Our sincere thoughts are with the man’s family at this tragic time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers.”
Despite the arrest, the police are appealing for witnesses, urging anyone with information, CCTV footage, or dash-cam recordings from the vicinity at the time of the incident to come forward. Inspector Pottle emphasised the importance of community assistance in piecing together the details of the collision.
“I would be grateful if you could check your footage as soon as possible and contact our officers if you have captured something of significance,” Inspector Pottle added.
