Large Fire Erupts at Derelict Hotspur Press in Manchester City Centre
A major fire has broken out this evening at the disused Hotspur Press building in Manchester city centre, sending thick plumes of smoke across nearby roads and rail lines.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8pm, where the historic building—located just off Oxford Road and close to the train station—was found engulfed in flames. The fire has led to widespread disruption in the area, with smoke visible for miles across Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews are on the scene tackling the blaze. Early footage and images from the area show flames tearing through the upper floors of the derelict structure, with black smoke clouding surrounding streets and drifting over nearby train tracks.
There are currently no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
Rail services operating through Oxford Road station are expected to be disrupted due to the proximity of the fire to key transport infrastructure. Commuters are advised to check with National Rail and Transport for Greater Manchester for the latest updates.

Police have cordoned off the surrounding area and urged the public to stay away to allow firefighters to work safely.
The Hotspur Press, a once-bustling printing works built in the early 20th century, has been vacant for several years and has been subject to multiple redevelopment proposals. Local residents have raised concerns in the past about safety and security at the site.
A full fire investigation will be launched once the flames are under control.
Anyone with information, footage, or who witnessed the fire breaking out is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police on 101 or share details via the GMP Live Chat service.
