An 11-year-old girl has tragically died after falling 65ft from the seventh floor of a Majorcan hotel where she was on holiday with her family.

The incident occurred around 6:30 am this morning at the Jupiter building, part of the three-star Club Mac resort in Puerto de Alcudia, northeast Majorca. Local reports indicate that the girl wandered onto the terrace and leaned over the railing while her relatives were asleep, leading to her accidental fall onto the roof of a first-floor restaurant.

Emergency responders, including paramedics and other medical personnel, rushed to the scene and attempted to revive the young girl, but she was pronounced dead on site.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Palma. The Civil Guard has yet to make an official comment regarding the incident.

The family, reportedly planning to return home to Ireland later today, has been offered trauma counselling by a regional emergency coordination centre. A source close to the situation said, “The girl who died was one of three children. The family were due to return to Ireland today. The youngster’s parents were sleeping when she fell and had no idea what had happened until afterwards.”

This tragedy comes just weeks after physiotherapist Michael Grant died suddenly while on holiday in Magaluf.
