DRONE INJURY Police Drone Crash Injures Child in Sheerness

A Special Inspector has been hit with a misconduct notice after a police drone accident seriously injured a child in Sheerness. The drone struck an overhead cable, crashed, and the child suffered severe hand injuries.

Child Hospitalised After Drone Incident

The injured youngster was rushed to a London hospital following the crash. The drone was reportedly searching for a suspect at the time of the accident.

Historic Investigation Launched

The incident, which occurred around 4pm on 2 August 2025, marks the first-ever case of civilian injury caused by a police drone, according to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The Air Accident Investigation Branch has also stepped in to conduct a full safety investigation.
